What a great evening to celebrate her birthday at Jackson's

Sunday means Farmer's Market in Yakima. Just a handful of what I bought/or obtained today (ok the strawberries are from costco, but they looked so pretty!)
The cucumber actually come from the school's garden. Thanks to Brian and Erika and many others we have a bountful load of produce.

Great tasting room, high ceilings, very pretty, pourers are very nice and new,

started in 2005

Masset Winery

Wine: 7
Notes: Great! In the middle of nowhere, nice variety of wines, free with about 12
pours, good range 15-55dollars.

Bought 1 bottle 2006 Merlot $35: Porteeus Vineyard, 1 Pinot Blanc $17

Nice size for tasting room, not to small but not huge and overwhelming.

Two Mountains Winery

Atmosphere: 7

Wine: 7

Notes: Relaxed place, cold, you taste in their barrel room. On a farm among the orchards. Price range 15-30$. Big room, decent wines. Bought 1 bottle of Lemberger, 16$, free, about 6 tastes.

Bought 1 bottle 2006 Zin (24$)

There Sangivovese was also good.

Nice counter service but busy, wines good prices 12-55 dollars most in

the 15-25dollar range, they have a ping pong table

Longer gravel road, bigger tasting room.

Wine: 7-8

Notes: Love this winery, we have had some great visits to here. 2007 wine is promising but didn't enjoy the wine last time we tasted but feel that maybe our tasters were off.

Olson Family Winery

Atmosphere: 6.5

Wine: 6.5

Notes: Just a little flat, wine ok, pretty room, just something is missing

Desert Wind Winery

Atmosphere: 8

Wine: 6

Notes: This is a beautiful location, have great food service, fancy restaurant and you can even spend the night in one of their great rooms. I believe that the wine is good but I didn't personally enjoy it.

Wine: 4
Notes: alot of free tastes, Nice room/property but felt like I was in the movie
"Sideways" Only 2002 Syrah is good.

Another year down!
Since I have last updated my blog.
- I turned 28!
- Andy and I have started on our quest to taste at every winery in Yakima Valley and hit as
many as possible wineries in Newberg Valley (more on this later)
- I have completed my first year of medical
school. . . . . officially a second year medical student!
- Andy and I celebrated our third year anniversary
- And now I am on vacation for 8 weeks! . . . . my last vacation in 6-7years or at least is what I
have been told.
